At St Augustine’s Church, Hedon, East Riding of Yorkshire

Saturday 26th April, 2008, at 2 pm – 4 pm

Our last conference, held at St James’ Church, Warter, was well attended, and we enjoyed a helpful discussion with volunteers who want to play a part in maintaining the valuable work of the Trust in the future. One topic raised was the sources available for grants for the fabric of the church, and the ways of making grant applications. We know this can be a demanding and sometimes overwhelming task, but all of us involved with the Trust have experience of successful raising of funds by making applications for grants. Among many other successful applications, individual members have obtained grants of over £650,000 for the restoration of St James’ Church, Warter, some £300,000 for St Andrew’s Church, Kirby Grindalythe, and over £150,000 for St Andrew’s Church, Bainton, as well as over £115,000 for this Trust.

So we are running a half-day workshop on the topic of applying for grants.

The course will cover:

  • How and when to apply
  • Grant giving organisations
  • Documents and information you will need for most applications
  • How to manage applications
  • Fund-raising by your church for the church fabric
  • Worked examples of applications using data from St Lawrence’s Church, Sigglesthorne, East Yorkshire

Dr. Martin Craven will give a talk on St Augustine’s Church, Hedon

Handouts will be provided.

Anyone is welcome to attend, whether or not a member of the Trust. A small charge of £2.50 will made to members, and a charge of £5.00 to non-members.

Refreshments will be provided.
